{"id":1507,"date":"2015-06-10T10:38:07","date_gmt":"2015-06-10T01:38:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thomas-osborne.com\/music\/?p=1507"},"modified":"2015-06-10T10:40:59","modified_gmt":"2015-06-10T01:40:59","slug":"new-recording-mass-migration-by-gimhae-municipal-gayageum-orchestra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thomas-osborne.com\/music\/new-recording-mass-migration-by-gimhae-municipal-gayageum-orchestra\/","title":{"rendered":"New recording: &#8220;Mass Migration&#8221; by Gimhae Municipal Gayageum Orchestra"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just received the Gimhae Municipal Gayageum Orchestra&#8217;s new CD &#8220;Tall Tree Forest,&#8221; a collection of mostly-new pieces for the large ensemble based in a smaller city in the southern part of South Korea. The group is currently directed by Seoul National University professor and gayageum soloist Ji-young Yi, who has continued the ensemble&#8217;s work in commissioning composers to write new works for the orchestra. 6 of those commissions are featured on this recording, including my own &#8220;Mass Migration.&#8221; I wasn&#8217;t involved in the recording itself, but I&#8217;m really pleased with the results.
