{"id":1338,"date":"2014-09-30T09:54:24","date_gmt":"2014-09-30T00:54:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thomas-osborne.com\/music\/?p=1338"},"modified":"2019-08-28T10:58:22","modified_gmt":"2019-08-28T20:58:22","slug":"premiere-of-verses-in-busan-south-korea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thomas-osborne.com\/music\/premiere-of-verses-in-busan-south-korea\/","title":{"rendered":"Premiere of &#8220;Verses&#8221; in Busan, South Korea"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/6&#8243;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]Last week I returned from a trip to Busan, South Korea, where the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/busan.gugak.go.kr\/eng\/main\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Busan National Gugak Center<\/a>\u00a0Orchestra, under the direction of Seong-Taek Kwon, premiered my concerto for\u00a0<em>haegeum<\/em>\u00a0and Korean traditional orchestra,\u00a0<em>Verses<\/em>. I\u2019d actually written the piece 2 years prior, while living in Seoul, so it was a bit like visiting an old friend when I encountered the music again. Friend and\u00a0<em>haegeum<\/em>\u00a0virtuoso Soo Yeon Lyuh played the piece masterfully, as did the orchestra. It was one of the better collaborations I\u2019ve had, in that the orchestra is less than 10 years old.
