{"id":1051,"date":"2013-03-16T11:52:02","date_gmt":"2013-03-16T02:52:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thomas-osborne.com\/music\/?p=1051"},"modified":"2019-08-28T14:31:10","modified_gmt":"2019-08-29T00:31:10","slug":"overheated-in-california","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thomas-osborne.com\/music\/overheated-in-california\/","title":{"rendered":"Overheated in California"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/6&#8243;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]I just returned from a trip to Anaheim, California, where two friends presented a performance of my work for violin and piano, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/thomas-osborne.com\/music\/works\/overheated\/\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Overheated<\/a><\/em>. The performance took place at the <a href=\"http:\/\/mtna.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MTNA<\/a> national conference which was held at Disneyland, of all places. (How many other composers can say they had a piece played there?) Friends <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/uhmmusic\/faculty\/Jang.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Iggy Jang<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/uhmmusic\/faculty\/Korth.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jonathan Korth<\/a> flew out from Hawaii for the performance of the piece, which was commissioned by the Hawaii Music Teachers&#8217; Association and which they premiered last Fall in Honolulu. The performance was part of MTNA&#8217;s &#8220;Distinguished Composer of the Year&#8221; recital, a title that most certainly doesn&#8217;t suit me, and it was great to see so many familiar faces from Hawaii again. Both Iggy and Jon gave a stellar, energized performance.
