It would be a thrilling ride, sinking deeper and deeper until the sun no longer shines and the sea life becomes more and more alien, but I imagine it would also be one filled with fear. In the first half of <em>Abyss<\/em>, the music is constantly being pulled downward. Falling gestures permeate this part of the piece, as if each melody feels the tug of gravity. Somewhere around halfway through the journey, the music strives to rise back up, with gradually rising gestures moving towards some invisible surface.
