was inspired by beautiful distortions, the kind created when a pebble is tossed into a pond reflecting the moon. Throughout the piece, tones and chords are “shaken” by quick repetitions and added vibrato. The piece begins simply, with both haegeum and piano playing in unison, then gains momentum as the tempo gradually increases and the texture thickens. By the end, what was once clear has been completely distorted, like the moonlight shattered across a churning ocean.
This piece is written for and dedicated to Soo Yeon Lyuh.
